FAQ - LA DIAGONELA

När arrangeras loppet?
Engadin La Diagonela körs varje år i januari. Nästa upplaga går av stapeln lördagen den 16 januari 2027.

What time does the race start?
The main race (55 km) starts at 9:55 a.m. The elite athletes start in the first group. After that, the skiers are divided into different starting groups at 5-minute intervals. Shorter distances have separate start times later in the day.

Where are the start and finish lines?
The race starts in the alpine village of Pontresina and finishes in central Zuoz, giving the race its unique character in the heart of the Engadin Valley. The course winds its way through several traditional Swiss villages and along open valleys with spectacular views.

What distances can you ski?
The main race is 55 km in classic style. For those who want a shorter challenge, there are also distances of 27 km and 11 km, making the event accessible to more levels of skiers.

How many people participate in the race?
Every year, La Diagonela attracts around a couple of thousand skiers from all over the world, including several of the best professional long-distance skiers. The atmosphere is a mix of international top class and genuine skiing community.

How difficult is the course?
La Diagonela is challenging, partly due to its high altitude, but also because the course layout puts skiers to the test. The race is suitable for skiers who are in good physical condition and have experience of longer classic distances. The terrain is varied, with both rolling climbs and technical sections.

What characterizes Engadin La Diagonela?
The event was founded in 2014 to boost tourism in the region during January. Since then, the race has grown into an internationally established long-distance race and is part of the Ski Classics tour. The core values of the race are ambition, community, and an unforgettable skiing experience.
