TRACK PROFILES MARCIALONGA RUNNING
Two distances – the same magical experience
Marcialonga Running offers two distances that allow participants to experience the spectacular landscape of the Dolomites in their own way and at their own pace. You can choose between a half marathon of 21.1 km and the longer distance of 26.5 km, both along the classic Marcialonga route through Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme.
The 21.1 km half marathon is suitable for runners who want to combine performance and experience in an accessible and rhythmic run through the valley, ending in Masi di Cavalese, just before the iconic finish in Cavalese. The 26.5 km distance, on the other hand, offers a more complete Marcialonga experience and continues all the way to the classic finish line in Cavalese – well known from the legendary Marcialonga ski race.
No matter which distance you choose, you can look forward to a nature-filled running experience where the course winds through alpine villages, open landscapes, and along the Avisio River, surrounded by dramatic mountain views and an atmosphere that is unique to Marcialonga. Here, the race is not just about kilometers and times, but about the feeling of movement through a living alpine landscape where tradition, community, and experience take center stage.
Marcialonga Running – 26.5 km | Moena to Cavalese
The longer distance is the main race and follows the entire classic Marcialonga route to the iconic finish line in Cavalese. Here you get a complete experience of the Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme valleys, where the landscape gradually changes from open alpine meadows to wooded areas and lively villages.
The first few kilometers are rhythmic and fast, making it easy to find your stride. Towards the end, a more challenging finish awaits, giving the race character and creating an extra strong feeling when you reach the finish line in Cavalese, surrounded by spectators, music, and a genuine Italian race atmosphere.
The 26.5 km distance is suitable for runners looking for more than just a race – a physical journey through the Dolomites where every kilometer builds up to a memorable finish.
As you approach Cavalese, the atmosphere along the course changes. The crowd thickens, the sound of the announcer and music can be heard in the distance, and your steps become lighter despite tired legs. For many, this is a moment they already recognize from the winter classic Marcialonga on skis—the iconic finish line where emotions, achievement, and tradition come together.
Running toward the finish line in Cavalese is therefore about more than distance and time. It is the feeling of experiencing the same finish that thousands of skiers have experienced before you, but in the warm Alpine air of late summer. A moment that lingers long after the medal has been hung around your neck.
