Marcialonga course profile

Marcialonga 70 km and 45 km courses – course profile and difficulty level

Marcialonga offers two classic-style distances: the classic
70 km from Moena to Cavalese and 45 km with the finish line in Predazzo.
Both races pass through Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme and share large parts of the course profile.

The total elevation gain over 70 km is approximately 1,000 meters,
while the 45 km distance has slightly less elevation gain but the same character:
a gradual climb through the valley rather than extreme alpine slopes.

The start in Moena – gentle climb and pace

Both the 70 km and 45 km races start in Moena with a gentle, steady climb.
The pace is often set early on, and positioning is important.
It is easy to push too hard at this stage, which can prove costly later in the race.

Gradual climb towards Canazei

The Marcialonga course profile builds up steadily towards Canazei.
It is not a dramatic climb, but it is long and requires efficient technique
and smart energy planning.

45 km – finish in Predazzo

For skiers covering 45 km, the race ends in Predazzo.
You get the same atmosphere, the same crowd, and the same valley,
but without the final climb up to Cavalese.
For many, this is the perfect first step into Marcialonga.

Cascata – the decisive 70 km

For participants in the 70 km race, the race ends with the iconic
Cascata hill in Cavalese. After almost 70 km, this is a short but steep
finish where the race is decided as much mentally as physically.
